Record Template Settings
The Template Settings feature allows you to view and change the template associated with a medical record. You can preview what changes will be made, and then apply the template to update the record's settings and regenerate its outputs.
When to Use This Feature
Use this feature when you want to:
- Change a record's template: Switch a medical record to use a different template
- Reapply template settings: Update a record to match the latest version of its current template
- Preview template outputs: See what outputs a template will generate before applying it
- Check template alignment: Verify if a record's current settings match a template
Accessing Template Settings
-
Navigate to the medical record page
-
Click the Record button in the top-right corner
-
Select "Template Settings" from the dropdown menu
Note: This option is only available if the record is currently linked to a template.
Using Template Settings
Viewing Current Template Information
When you open the Template Settings modal, you'll see:
- Current template name: The name of the template currently associated with the record
- Generated outputs: A list of all outputs that the template will produce, such as:
- Narrative Summary
- Chronology
- Medications List
- Vitals Timeline
- Classifications
- PDF Download
- DOCX Download
- Custom sections (if any)
Selecting a Different Template
- Use the Template dropdown menu to see all available templates in your organization
- Select a different template from the dropdown
- The modal will automatically update to show:
- The selected template's name and outputs
- Whether the record's current settings differ from the selected template
Applying Template Settings
- Select the desired template from the dropdown (or keep the current one selected)
- Review the generated outputs and status message
- Click "Apply Template" (or "Reapply Template" if using the current template)
- Wait for the confirmation message: "Template settings applied"
What happens when you apply:
- If you selected a different template, the record's template association is updated
- The record's processing settings are updated to match the template (processing tasks, audience, custom sections)
- A new draft version is created
- The record is marked for reprocessing to regenerate outputs after you click the "Reprocess Record" button
Important Notes
- Permissions: You must have file management permissions to access this feature
- Reprocessing: Applying template settings will trigger reprocessing, which may take some time depending on the record size
- Draft version: A new draft version is created when changes are applied
- Template availability: Only templates from your organization are available in the dropdown
- No changes needed: If the record already matches the selected template, the "Apply Template" button will not be shown
Troubleshooting
- "Template unavailable" error: The record is not linked to a template. You'll need to link it to a template first
- "Failed to load templates" error: There was a problem loading available templates. Try refreshing the page
- Button is disabled: The modal is still loading template information. Wait for it to finish loading
- Changes not appearing: After applying, the record needs to complete reprocessing. Check the record's processing status
